Gift Ideas for the Crafter in your Life

So its coming down to the wire. Not that many days till Christmas. Here are some great ideas to give the Crafter in your life thats sure to make them happy.

  1. Gift Certificate to their favorite craft store. Even small stores like mine have gift certificates. Sometimes around this time you even get bonuses.
  2. For the knitter or crocheter you can get
    1. a bag to carry their needles and/or work.
    2. If there a beginner you can get them a set of various needle sizes. We just got a set for $19.99 that comes with 1 ergonomic handle, 1 regular handle and 6 interchangeable screw-on needles.
    3. Notions are always needed, stitch markers, stitch gage, point protectors and counters are great little add ones and fit in the stocking or can be hung on the tree like an ornament!
  3. Pattern and idea books are great, every crafter loves some fresh ideas or even get them a subscription to a craft magazine. Everytime they get the mag they will think of you.
  4. For the Jeweler there is a cute set of mini Jewelry tools that come in a travel bag. A great second set
Remember that its the thought that counts. Buy from your heart and your receiver will know it.

Bad with Show Notes

I know I've been bad about putting show notes up. I'm still deciding if I want to stick with the blog format or just to start an actual paid web page. If you have any questions about any of the podcasts please email me at cookscrafts at gmail dot com.

CraftiCast Ep1 Kids crafts

Please choose a local “Mom & Pop” craft store when buying your crafts. They are more able to help you when you have questions and requests.

Fun Foam is great for all ages. Pre-cut kits are great for ages 3 and up. The material is easy to cut and decorate. Use markers, for younger kids. Pre-cut stickers are great for scrapbooking because they are acid free. Companies that sell Foam kits and cutouts wholesale are Nicole a division of Sbars, Darice and Creative Hands a division of Fibre Craft.

Project Idea:

  • Use a magnetic back sheet to cut out a frame for a picture, decorate it with foam stickers, glitter and/or sequins. Use Fancy edged scissors to cut around the edge.

Another Summer time favorite is always lanyard. Also called Plastic Lacing, Gimp or Rexlace. I know when I was a kid I made tons of keychains. The hardest part is starting it. Here is a link to a youtube video I created to start the keychain. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=We_NLnstEM0

Here is link to some free instructions.: http://www.carbidecamps.net/CombinedActivities/LanyardsPage/box.htm

Next we talked about Friendship bracelets. They are made from DMC or Anchor floss. These started out being something that you make and trade with your friends. Here are some free instructions http://www.mediamessage.com/kayton/GirlScouts/bracelet.htm

Last we talked about toe rings. Great way to use the few beads that are left over from other projects. Take clear stretch magic and a crimp bead and you have a great toe ring. Only use a few beads that will stay on top of you toe so when you walk you won’t be stepping on anything. Videos will be up about this as well.
