Still time to make a gift for Dad or Grandpa

There is still time to make Dad or Grandpa a gift for Sunday. As previously mentioned you can make him a photo frame tie, click here for pattern. Or here are some other ideas that are in stock right now!
Design your own water globe or mug. The pre-printed inserts can be colored in by little ones or older kids can draw their own designs and add a picture. These can also be decorated on the outside to add some personalization.

We also have Ceramic Mugs and markers that can be decorated. The markers are great for decorating glass or ceramic but do require a clear sealer if you want your design to be permanent.

Friendship Bracelets & Lanyard Keychains

Every summer sales of lanyard and floss go up. Kids of all ages love to make bracelets and keychains. Since money is tight all around I'm having a few specials right now.

First up is lanyard spool. Mini spools are $.79 each but if you buy 5 you get one free.

And don't forget that I did a youtube video showing how to start the basic box.

Second is Friendship bracelets. Any thread or cord will work but the most popular is the embroidery floss because of the shine and resilience. If you make a lot of them consider buying the packs. For only $4.49 you get 36 skeins. If you bought them all separately you would spend over $20.
There are plenty of places to find instructions online. Here are just a few of my favorite links.

The most important thing is to have fun. Don't hesitate to email me or come into the shop if you have any questions or problems.

CraftiCast Ep1 Kids crafts

Please choose a local “Mom & Pop” craft store when buying your crafts. They are more able to help you when you have questions and requests.

Fun Foam is great for all ages. Pre-cut kits are great for ages 3 and up. The material is easy to cut and decorate. Use markers, for younger kids. Pre-cut stickers are great for scrapbooking because they are acid free. Companies that sell Foam kits and cutouts wholesale are Nicole a division of Sbars, Darice and Creative Hands a division of Fibre Craft.

Project Idea:

  • Use a magnetic back sheet to cut out a frame for a picture, decorate it with foam stickers, glitter and/or sequins. Use Fancy edged scissors to cut around the edge.

Another Summer time favorite is always lanyard. Also called Plastic Lacing, Gimp or Rexlace. I know when I was a kid I made tons of keychains. The hardest part is starting it. Here is a link to a youtube video I created to start the keychain. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=We_NLnstEM0

Here is link to some free instructions.: http://www.carbidecamps.net/CombinedActivities/LanyardsPage/box.htm

Next we talked about Friendship bracelets. They are made from DMC or Anchor floss. These started out being something that you make and trade with your friends. Here are some free instructions http://www.mediamessage.com/kayton/GirlScouts/bracelet.htm

Last we talked about toe rings. Great way to use the few beads that are left over from other projects. Take clear stretch magic and a crimp bead and you have a great toe ring. Only use a few beads that will stay on top of you toe so when you walk you won’t be stepping on anything. Videos will be up about this as well.
